Can revenge be anything more than an expression of self righteousness and self hatred?
To seek revenge on another human being is to say to others and ourselves consciously, “You were wrong in what you did, and I am right in what I am about to do, therefore whatever action I take against you is just.” This is our expression of Self Righteousness.
That is what revenge says closer to the surface. There is though, a much deeper message hidden within our desire for revenge.
To seek revenge on another human being is to say to ourselves subconsciously, “What you have done, has reminded me of what I have done, and I hate myself for having done that. I am not going to punish myself for what I have done, therefore I will punish you for what I have done, under the illusion that I am punishing you for what you have done.” This is our expression of Self Hatred.
Who was the last person you had thoughts of getting revenge on?
Could it be true that your desire to seek revenge is fueled by your Self Righteousness and Self Hatred?
What can you do with this new awareness?
